Toolkit 2 3D - Week 8 & 10
Week 8
Dynamesh recap and Zremesher
Dynamesh gives more flexibility when sculpting, allowing for an easier process when sculpting out the base mesh of a model, you can also dynamesh multiple times on one model in order to add more details as you develop the model
Zremesher can be used to clean your sculpt mesh be retoplogizing the surface. You can also use this tool on multiple subdivision levels including low poly, which makes it easier to make large scale changes even with a limited amount of polygons to work with.
ZModeler
Z modeler is a function in Zbrush that allows a more hardsurface form of modelling in the sculpting software. Zmodeler can be found in the same place as all of the sculpting brushes and comes with a variety of functions similar to some of those found in hardsurface software like Maya, such as Extrude, Crease, Bridge and Divide, which are all similar to functions found in Maya
To access the modeller, you can use the hotkeys B>Z>M which will bring up the menu for the function, allowing you to change the current settings of the modeler brush. You can also access a secondary section of the modeler by holding space bar while the Zmodeler brush is in use
In order to use the brush, you have to be in polyframe mode which can be accessed though shift+F so you can see the wireframe of your model.
Week 10
Curve brushes
Curve brushes can be used to make a variety of different details when sculpting in Zbrush. There are lots of different curve brush shapes that can be used to achieve different effects. One of the main uses that I will be focusing on for furutre projects is the use of curve brushes for modelling hair and also items of clothing/ accessories that dangle off the character/ model base.
